We communicate with our members via our weekly news blog - "Burg Talk" which gives information on dates and times of the various organised training rides, club news, training and safety tips and cycling events.

Club training rides are organised by our Road and MTB Captains. WE have experienced group leaders who plan and lead the weekly training rides.

Road Rides
These are on Tuesday and Thursday mornings starting and finishing at the Victoria Centre opposite Virgin Active Gym. The "D" and "C" groups leave at 4:50am, the "B" Group at 4:55am and the A Group at 5am. Group leaders will vary the distance, which is normally around 25kms. Most of the rides are in town, with a variation of some track riding, pace lining and power intervals.

Saturday rides are invariably +/- 90kms; in summer they start at 5.00am and in winter at 5:30am. Starting places and times are communicated via the Burg Talk and the various WhatsApp channels.

MTB rides
Organised MTB rides start at Crossways in Hilton at 3:30pm in summer and 3.00pm in winter. This is open to all mountain bikers, and before the start of the ride you will be allocated a group which suits your riding capabilities.

Saturday morning rides start from the Quarry Shopping Centre in Hilton, opposite Jaxx, with starting times being communicated through the Burg Talk and various WhatsApp channels. Most of our rides take place in the Hilton, Cedara and Hilton College Forest areas. Training rides will vary with single track, hills, jeep track and gravel roads. Distances are normally between 30 and 35kms.

For all our rides, new club members will be asked which discipline they would like to participate in (road or MTB), and their riding ability will be established by the Road or MTB Captain, who will then add them to the relevant group (A, B or C).

When joining the Club the following policies apply:
1. It is club policy that you wear club kit on all club organized rides and races.
2. Visibility: On all club rides HE or SHE must have a working front light that is able to flash for day use, as well as a working rear light that flashes and is visible from at least one KM behind.
3. Front and rear light batteries must be able to last for at least a 4 hr ride. The front light needs to be at least 1500 lumen.
4. Please help us to ensure the groups' safety by complying with the above requests.
